Announcing our new show: Aladdin On Ice!

As I write this announcement that is sure to send shock waves felt on a global, seismic level, I am sat in our make-shift writers room that is really just our living room in our French house. And to be clear, by writers room I mean me and mum shooting the shit trying to get a shape of the show we’re putting on in a few months. The wall is covered in flip-chart paper that keeps falling down because of the generally un-noticeable but logistically maddening wallpaper that is still white but just vaguely embroidered with some sort of pattern that clearly makes the wall resistant to the adhesive they put on Flipchart paper, anyway I digress. As I sit here, surrounded by ideas, typing with hands covered in smudged ink that will take four happy birthdays to wash off, I am very happy. I think this Is our best show, and that’s bold of me to say as right now act one is a mess and act two is merely an idea in the mind of someone else. But the ideas that sit in front of me will one day be our 10th panto, and whether it’s absolutely terrible or not, I will still be forever proud of this stupid thing we pull off year after year. Anyway, the show’s called Aladdin on Ice. Everyone’s back from last year plus Ella & Isaiah. Mum is writing it, I have tapped away at the piano for some hummable ditties, and we will see you on the 6th of December.

Elsa Gibbons, Ruby May Murray, Isaiah Glasford & Andie King join the cast of β€œAladdin”

Stagelight has announced four more cast members joining their 2025 pantomime β€œAladdin”

This includes returning cast members Elsa Gibbons, who has been with the company since our first outing in 2015, as Princess Jasmine, Ruby May Murray, who has been with us since 2022, as The Spirit of Winter, and Andie King, who has appeared in 2021/22’s β€œElla, Actually” and 2024’s β€œCroc-O-Doodle-Doo!” as Natasha Petrova. Joining them for his panto debut is Isaiah Glasford as β€œKing Aleksandr”.

More casting, creatives and show details to be revealed down the line.

Stagelight’s 10th Annual Pantomime β€œAladdin” (title TBA), will be staged on 6th December 2025.

The show, based on the life of titular β€œAladdin”, will star returning cast members George Bowen as The Genie of the Lamp, Brigid Bowen as Aladdin, Helios Boyd as The Understudy & Henry Mason as The Slave of the Ring, with further casting to be announced at a later date.

It is to be Written & Directed by Rachel Crafts, with Musical Direction by George Bowen. More creatives to be revealed at a later date.

Co-founder and all around genius George Bowen said β€œI am so excited for people to see this show, Aladdin is a story that I love very deeply, and I am excited to do it without all the elements that make it deeply problematic today. Needless to say the show won’t be set in the deserts of Arabia or some weird white persons version of china. I love doing these shows every year and to get to do it a 10th time is a feeling I hope we all get to experience every now and then. Also we have started writing and I think this one is super funny and very silly and also it makes me cry. Ok bye now”

Henry Mason, Miriam Alkin join the cast of CROC-O-DOODLE-DOO!

It just never stops, does it! We are so excited to announce that Henry Mason & Miriam Alkin will be joining the cast of Croc-O-Doodle-Doo!

Due to scheduling conflicts, Eddie Simpson will no longer be playing J.M. Barrie, but with some storm cloud silver lining type stuff, our good friend Henry Mason will be joining us in the role.

And, in an exciting new addition, Miriam Alkin will be joining us as β€œEveryone Else”, to find out what that means, I guess you’ll have to come along on December 7th!

We love making these shows, and to bring new people in every year is always an honour, and more importantly, a great sense of egotistical pride.

That’s it, for now, we think. Less than a month to go, we will see you soon!

Andie King joins Croc-O-Doodle-Doo! company as Wendy Darling.

Surprise! In a piece of news surprising to even us, we are delighted to announce that Andie King will be joining the company of Croc-O-Doodle-Doo in the role of Wendy Darling.

This also comes with the sad news that Amber Whittaker Wright has chosen to withdraw from this year’s production. We are heartbroken she won’t be performing with us, but the entire Stagelight family send her our love and best wishes.

But, to find the silver lining in a cloud, Andie will be treading the (vaguely underfloor heated) boards, and we can’t wait to welcome them!
